Recycling Symbols

The Green Dot: This symbol is used in some EU countries and shows that a contribution to the cost of recycling the products packaging has been paid.

Mobius Loop: Indicates that an object is capable of being recycled - not that it has been recycled.

Mobius Loop with percentage: This label shows the percentage of recycled material contained in the product.

Tidyman: This symbol requests that you dispose of your waste thoughtfully and do not litter.

Energy Efficiency: Products bearing this emblem have been certified by the Energy Saving Trust and will save energy and money as well as helping the environment.

Paper: National Association of Paper Merchants Award can be found on papers and boards that contain a minimum of 75% genuine paper and board waste.

Glass: This symbol signifies that the product or packaging is made from recyclable glass and should be deposited in a bottle bank.

Aluminium: This label signifies that the packaging or item bearing the symbol is made from recyclable aluminium.

Steel: This symbol identifies steel products that can be recycled. Steel food and drinks cans bearing this logo should be deposited in a steel recycling facility.

Plastic: This symbol indicates that the product or packaging is made from plastic and what type it is. PET and HDPE bottles are recycled by the majority of local authorities.

Wood: The Forest Stewardship Council logo identifies products which contain wood from well managed forests.

Electronics: Electrical and Electronic Equipment that was made after 13th August 2005 should display this symbol on the packaging or product.

Batteries: Batteries that were placed on the market after 26th September 2008 should display this symbol on the battery.
