Packaging Compliance


The Packaging Regulations came into force in the UK on 6th March 1997 and encourages companies that handle packaging to reduce the environmental impact of packaging and packaging waste. The Regulations achieve this by placing obligations on companies to meet recycling and recovery targets for packaging waste and encouraging the minimisation and reuse of packaging.



Do the packaging regulations apply to your business?


In order to be obligated to register with a compliance scheme, like Budget Pack, your company will fulfil all three of these criteria:


  • You import, manufacture or sell packaged products.
  • You will have a turnover in excess of £2 million pounds per annum.

    AND
  • You will have handled in excess of 50 tonnes of packaging in the previous year.
